Floating pages with custom menu images. Theme Demo »  Twist

Twist

Available for Tiki 4

As of the Tiki 4 version, Twist is using the *lite.css layout method, so no longer uses a table for the main layout. This was made possible by an addition to *lite.css that enables the main content-containing div to have a fixed width, which works in all browsers.

Available for Tiki 3

In Tiki 3, the Twist theme uses the Look and Feel options pretty much like other themes, and should work more flexibly with site titles and logos, etc. The theme-specific menu folder images work more nicely than before, also.

Information for Tiki 2 and older (mostly out of date for Tiki 3)

Site title and Site Identity
Site Identity is turned off for most pages at themes.tw.o. To provide for a site title in the Twist theme here, a few lines were added to templates/styles/twist/header.tpl:

<div id="siteheader">
{if $page eq 'Site Identity demo'}
{include file="tiki-site_header.tpl"}
{else}
<div style="font-size: 28px;
padding-top: 38px;padding-left: 1em;
color:white">Themes.tikiwiki.org</div>
{/if}
</div>

For other Tiki sites, Site Identity should be configured so that the logo and other header items are sized and positioned to match the theme. Since the Site Identity custom code at this site must be used for all themes, Twist has its own tiki-identity_header.tpl file, where margin specs were added to reposition the logo and search form.

Issues

  1. If you see a white horizontal menu, then you have not defined a menu with menuId=43. Go to Admin -> Menu and create a new menu.
  2. If you want to use a menu other than 43, edit templates/styles/twist/tiki_top_bar.tpl and change the 43 to the appropriate number.
  • Horizontal menu item not displayed. This theme is extremely sensitive (strict) about the separators in a menu when displaying the horizontal menu. If you see an item missing (indicated by consecutive vertical bars), check if a separator is immediately before it in the menu. If so, remove the separator. Start at the left side and work towards the right, fixing as needed. Once the menu displays correctly, it will work in any other theme. Other themes are just more tolerant that this theme.

chibaguy, 06:31 GMT, Thu 16 of May, 2013: Veronica, that star has been eclipsed many times, with Tiki 11.o now soon to rise. ;-)
veronicamarsh, 08:33 GMT, Sun 12 of May, 2013: tikiwiki 2.0 is the star of this weekend. Just follow as we add it to SM dev.
chibaguy, 02:57 GMT, Thu 04 of Oct, 2012: This is a late reply, but, for the record, the Milkyway theme (following the original design) doesn't have a search form in the top bar. You can put one at the top of a side column, etc. instead.
andi6803, 12:20 GMT, Tue 18 of Oct, 2011: I use tiki 6v4 with the Milkyway theme. But it's not possible to switch on the search bar at the top bar. With other themes it works.
